Frequently Asked Questions

Timeshare cancellation, answered.

Straight answers to the questions owners ask us most. Still unsure? A free consultation is the best way to get clarity on your specific situation.

Can I really cancel my timeshare contract?

In many cases, yes. Whether — and how — a timeshare can be cancelled depends on the specific terms of your agreement and the circumstances of your purchase. The first step is always a careful review of your contract by a licensed attorney to identify potential grounds for cancellation, from statutory rescission rights to misrepresentation and disclosure failures.

What is the rescission (cooling-off) period?

Most states give timeshare buyers a short window after signing — often several days to a couple of weeks — during which they can cancel for any reason by providing proper written notice. If you are still within that period, cancellation is usually straightforward. If it has passed, other legal grounds may still apply.

How is a law firm different from a timeshare “exit company”?

A law firm is composed of licensed attorneys bound by professional and ethical obligations, with the authority to negotiate under attorney-client privilege and to file suit in court if necessary. Many “exit companies” are unregulated, cannot represent you in litigation, and sometimes charge large up-front fees for services they are not licensed to perform.

Do you help owners outside of Florida?

Yes. Although our office is in St. Petersburg, Florida, we assist timeshare owners across the country. Timeshare and consumer-protection matters frequently involve national developers and federal law, and our attorneys are admitted in multiple jurisdictions.

How much does it cost, and how are fees handled?

Fees depend on the complexity of your matter, and we discuss them openly before any engagement begins. As a law firm, we are required to maintain transparent billing — there are no hidden charges. Your consultation is free, and you will understand the fee arrangement before deciding to move forward.

What happens during the free consultation?

We listen to your situation, review the basics of your contract, and give you an honest assessment of your options. There is no obligation and no pressure. If we do not believe we can help you, we will tell you.

Will cancelling my timeshare affect my credit?

Every situation is different, which is why the analysis matters. Part of building a sound strategy is understanding the potential financial implications of each path and choosing the approach that best protects your interests. We will discuss this candidly with you.

How long does the process take?

Timelines vary. A matter resolved within the rescission period can conclude in a matter of days, while a disputed cancellation or litigation may take longer. We will give you a realistic sense of the timeline based on the specifics of your case.
